While 2020 has been full of challenges for many, it did at least provide us with an opportunity to change our main fundraising event into something more fun and accessible for everyone. We usually host (and will continue to do so) the annual 5k Run, Jog, Walk on Carson Valley Days. However, since that wasn’t possible this year, we realized change was needed. We all love the 5k and want to keep it going for our local community, but decided some virtual events would be an excellent way for us to maintain our community feel and engagement while maintaining proper social distancing as well. As such, we’re pleased to announce our Miles for Recovery Triple Challenge!
Miles For Recovery Triple Challenge
September 2020 Miles For Recovery Virtual Challenge
The September Virtual Challenge is already running, so make sure to get signed up by September 15 (retroactive logging for the month of September is allowed!). Visit our RunSignup Page to get signed up now!
Make sure you also join our virtual community in our Facebook group Miles for Recovery. This group page will be used for all of our events, so don't be shy! Come join us, introduce yourself if you'd like, and post your journey so far in our challenge!.
March 2021 Miles or Minutes for Recovery Pledge
Next will be the Miles or Minutes for Recovery Pledge in March. While the fine details are still in the planning stage, this will be a pledge type event where you can pledge a dollar amount for a certain number of miles logged or minutes of exercise tracked. More details will be revealed soon, but team challenges will be encouraged in this one so start planning your teams and getting ready to issue challenges to friends!
June 2021 5K Run, Jog, Walk
The final event in the triple challenge is of course the 5K Run, Jog, Walk. Hopefully by Carson Valley Days in June 2021 we can start enjoying each others company a bit more than we’ve been allowed this year and have an actual in person fun 5k! More info on the theme, date, and route will be available soon.
To encourage participation in all 3 of our fun events, we’re awarding a challenge coin to those who complete all 3 challenges! We know you have many options for virtual races during these crazy times, so we want all of our community members in recovery to strive to complete all three of our events to gain their challenge coin! Final design details are still being worked on, but we hope you will all accept our challenge to complete all three events to get this special memento.
September 2020 30- or 100-mile Virtual Challenge is running now! Go to RunSignup to get yourself and your family signed up for the first leg of our triple challenge! Retro-active logging to the first of September is allowed, so go ahead and sign up and log those miles!
